I am an Adjunct Professor with NSERC Discovery Grant funding to investigate the interplay between carbohydrate and lipid metabolism in horses. The goal of this work is to improve nutritional and management recommendations for horses with metabolic dysfunction to support improved health and longevity. 

Current projects for MSc and PhD students include investigating:

• response to fat feeding in horses with insulin resistance
• effect of meal composition on metabolic responses in sedentary and exercising horses
• modelling of digestive and metabolic processes in horses

I am the Director of Research at Mad Barn Inc - an equine nutrition company based in Kitchener, ON. Therefore, students that I mentor can also gain insights into professions in the equine industry including nutritionists, product development and regulatory functions, marketing, etc.
